Joint efforts needed to resolve sectarianism problem

Joint efforts are needed to resolve the problem of sectarianism, according to the dean of Theology Faculty of Yerevan State University.

“We lack clergymen to deal with problems of the faithful,” Bishop Anushavan Zhamkochyan said during “Armenia and religious challenges of the 21st century” conference which kicked off in Yerevan on November 8.

“YSU Theology Faculty will try to protect young people from pernicious subcultures and informal movements. But the problem is too serious to be resolved by the Church alone,” he said.

His Grace Zhamkochyan suggested building more churches which help peoples preserve their faith and traditions.

“A nation without traditions is a tree without roots,” he stressed.
