David Babayan: Azerbaijan tries to cultivate image of Artsakh as external enemy to revert negative attention

No issues related to the liberation of so-called “occupied territories” and creation of a corridor between Azerbaijan, Nakhijevan, Karabakh and Armenia are being discussed, according to the head of the Central Information Department of the NKR President’s Office David Babayan.

As he told PanARMENIAN.Net, such issues cannot be included in negotiation agenda, as Karabakh conflict settlement talks are incomplete without Artsakh’s involvement. “Adequate perception of reality, a trait which Azerbaijan lacks, is the most important aspect in conflict settlement,” Babayan said, adding that to settle the conflict one must investigate the initial cause rather than the consequences.

At the same time, he pointed out that undemocratic parliamentary elections became an issue to both Baku and international community. “As a result, Azerbaijan resorted to its old tricks, trying to cultivate the image of Artsakh as an external enemy in an attempt to revert negative attention,” he stressed.

“We are discussing the liberation of the occupied territories, creating a corridor between Azerbaijan and Nakhijevan, Karabakh and Armenia," today.az cited CIS Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev as saying.
