Three frescos of Minas Avetisyan expected to be restored in 2011

Three frescos of the outstanding Armenian painter Minas Avetisyan have been restored through the efforts of Italian experts.

Italian restorer Fabrizio Jacobini believes the remaining works of the Armenian master should be took up immediately, as the electro technical factory, where the frescos are stored, is unable to provide suitable conditions. “With every arrival in Armenia, I notice more signs of deterioration on the frescos,” the expert said.

The head of Minas Avetisyan Foundation, Arman Avetisyan, in turn, spoke about poor condition the frescos Millstone and Carpet-weaving are in.

As Armenian Culture Ministry official, Sona Harutyunyan noted, three more frescos of the Armenian painter will possibly be restored next year. “2011 budget envisages no funds to be allocated on restoration. We have only the help pf private sector to hope for,” she concluded.
