Tax and customs administration hamper Armenia’s economic development

Vice Chairman of the RA Parliamentary Standing Committee of Economic Affairs, member of Prosperous Armenia parliamentary group Vardan Bostanjyan said that the 2011 state budget of Armenia is a budget of the government’s opportunities aimed at fulfillment of its duties.

The budget amounts to AMD 1 trillion, which is not enough to solve all the problems, said Bostanjyan.

Chairman of the United Labor Party Gurgen Arsenyan said for his part that the 2011 draft budget does not differ anyhow from other accounting documents, as target ways for development are not defined by it.

Arsenyan noted that the tax and customs administration hamper the development of Armenia’s economy, as “these structures should fulfill the plan set before them.” He added that small and medium enterprises basically carry the tax load.

Bostanjyan agreed with his opponent that the reforms implemented in the field have not yielded results, while SMEs are in an unfavorable situation.
