Armenian politicians used sectarians at 2008 rallies?

Politicians are using faith as a tool to help them gain their ends, according to Alexander Amaryan, the head of the Center for Aid and Rehabilitation to the Victims of Destructive Cults.

As the expert noted during Yerevan-Moscow-Tbilisi-Kyiv TV spacebridge on the sects in post-soviet space, “political party leaders often cooperate with the heads of sects to secure votes. This is characteristic for the whole post-soviet countries, including Armenia.”

As he remarked, a great number of sectarians was observed on the eve of March 1, 2008 events, resulting in the death of 10 people.

“Possibly, the same occurred in Georgia and Ukraine,” he said.
