Armenia lacks vineyards to develop wine-making

Chairman of the Union of Winemakers of Armenia Avag Harutyunyan said that there are around 2000 hectares of good red grape and as much of white grape in Armenia.

According to him, if annual consumption of wine makes 10 liters per capita in Armenia, what is a rather real figure, we will lack vineyards.

And if one million families of the Armenian Diaspora decide to purchase one bottle of Armenian wine per year, the resources will be insufficient to meet the demand, Harutyunyan said, adding that representatives of the Diaspora consume 95% of the entire export of Armenian wines to the U.S. and Europe.
