Coordinator for U.S. Assistance to Europe and Eurasia Daniel Rosenblum said that the U.S. has cooperated with the Armenian government for many years in operating of the Nuclear Power Plant (NPP).

“We are ready to continue these work in future,” Rosenblum told a press conference in Yerevan.

He noted that the matter was discussed during the November 15 sitting of the U.S.-Armenia Joint Economic Task Force (USATF).

Armenia plans to construct a new unit of the NPP with a capacity of around 1,000 MW. According to specialists, the project cost may total around $5bln. The construction works are scheduled to be launched at the beginning of 2011.
