Former U.S. Ambassador to Turkey Eric Edelman criticized Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, Cumhuriyet reported.

Edelman said that the Justice & Development (AK) Party is displaying an increasing authoritarian tendency and that judiciary, media and the military are under attack.

Edelman said Turkey needs U.S. support in a number of issues, adding, "we have created a big political and moral risk for us. I think we must stop spoiling the AK Party government."
