Russia and NATO ready to discuss events in Georgia in August 2008

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said that despite disagreements with respect to estimation of the August 2008 situation in Georgia, Russia and NATO are ready to discuss the problem.

“Everything looks pretty good,” the President told a press conference after Russia-NATO summit in Lisbon, adding that some disagreements remain concerning the events in 2008.

"We stated that the matter should not become a stumbling block. We will discuss the mater and want these discussions to be productive," he said, adding that it would allow ensuring peace in Caucasus and Europe, as a whole.

"There are not so many issues on which Russia and NATO have different views, and they should not tear our relations apart,” said Dmitry Medvedev.
