Russia, Armenia discuss cooperation opportunities in communication field

On November 18, Russian Minister of Telecommunications and Mass Communications Igor Shchegolev and Armenian Minister of Transport and Communication Manuk Vardanyan discussed cooperation opportunities in the communication field.

During the meeting, Igor Shchegolev recalled recent agreements reached with operators on decrease in roaming tariffs and asked representatives of the Armenian delegation to establish control over the process and implementation of the reached agreements.

The parties attached importance to the development of cooperation between Russia and Armenia in the field of post and special communication.

Besides, Armenia’s possible participation in projects of satellite communication was in the focus of the meeting. Specifically, the Armenian side offered to consider the possibility of joint usage of orbital slots allocated to Armenia.

Igor Shchegolev said it is important to define which satellite technologies present interest for the Armenian side – communication, special communication, radio, mobile communication or Internet.
