Shushi reviving through funds raised in 2009 Telethon of Hayastan Fund

In 2009, Hayastan All-Armenian Fund held its 12th international telethon under the motto – Our Shushi – as part of which $15,875,043. The raised sum was planned to be allocated for implementation of the program on Shushi rehabilitation.

“We have already implemented several projects. For example, roofs of ten residential houses and four road sections have been repaired, the main road leading to St. Ghazanchetsots church is being restored,” head of the Public Relations Department at Hayastan All-Armenian Fund Hasmik Grigoryan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.

She added that works are implemented on restoration of Shushi water supply system.

“Besides, the House of Culture and Khachatur Abovian library are being improved,” Grigoryan said, adding that the Fund is also drafting a project on reconstruction of Muratsan school, which will become a vocational school.

In addition, construction works are carried out in Karintak village located near Shushi.

Hasmik Grigoryan reported that the biggest sum was raised by the Fund in 2008 – USD 35mln.

During 18 years of its activity, Hayastan Fund has implemented projects at the amount of over $200mln. 2008 Telethon was conducted on November 28 in Los Angeles under the motto – Armenia, My Home.
