Head of Monte Melkonyan Foundation Alek Yenigomshyan said that today the Armenian nation needs Monte Melkonyan to the same extent as during the Karabakh war.

Referring to human features of Melkonyan, Yenigomshyan said he had never set himself above others. He believed that all soldiers are equal, Yenigomshyan told a press conference dedicated to the birth anniversary of Artsakh war hero Monte Melkonyan.

Besides, according to Yenigomshyan, Melkonyan had always been indifferent towards material values.

“The Armenian people’s self-determination had always been the main problem for Monte, that is to say, he wanted Armenia’s historical territories to be returned and the Armenian Diaspora to be able to return to the homeland,” he said.

Monte Melkonyan would be 53 on November 25, 2010.
