The press service of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan has issued a special statement in connection with whistleblower website WikiLeaks release of more than 250,000 US diplomatic cables related to foreign governments revealing, among other things, the statements of President Aliyev on Russian, Turkish, Iranian and Armenian authorities.

According to the press service, the statements that are attributed in these publications to President Ilham Aliyev do not correspond to reality.

"Such actions are a provocation aimed at deteriorating relationships between Azerbaijan and neighboring countries. Azerbaijani President’s lexicon is lacking sharp expressions and slang, listed in these publications. Azerbaijan has never interfered into internal affairs of neighboring states and pursued policy aimed at maintaining and developing good-neighborly relations.

In all his speeches President Aliyev defends openly national interests of Azerbaijan. Country’s foreign policy has always been independent and sincere," the Administration’s statement says, abc.az reported.
