Armenians of Ukraine concerned over possibility of creation of Ukrainian-Turkish manuals

The National Congress of Armenians of Ukraine has applied to Ukrainian Minister of Education and Science Dmitry Tabachnik with respect to the initiative on creation of a joint Ukrainian-Turkish manual for teachers of history.

“The Armenian Diaspora of Ukraine is seriously concerned over the possibility of creation of a joint Ukrainian-Turkish manual for teachers of history. Taking into consideration the negationism concept of the official Turkish historiography towards the Armenian Genocide in 1915-1922, as well as distorting approach towards Armenia’s history, there are concerns with respect to reliable interpretation of a range of historical processes,” the statement reads.

The National Congress of Armenians of Ukraine recalled that around 50,000 Armenian refugees, who escaped from Turkey during the years of the Armenian Genocide, have settled down in Ukraine, and these facts are an irrefutable evidence of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire, Analitika.at.ua reported.

Ukrainian Minister of Education and Science Dmitry Tabachnik initiated creation of joint history manuals with numerous neighboring countries, including Turkey.
