No special changes in the hydrology of the Lake Sevan have occurred over the last 20 years; with temperature regime and oxygen deficiency kept at a stable level, according to Sergey Poddubny, an expert at Papanin Institute for Biology of Inland Waters, Russian Academy of Sciences.

At news conference, the expert characterized the clarity of lake water as satisfactory, explaining the oxygen deficiency by the decrease in water level.

A Russian scientist, Yuri Gerasimov, in turn, noted the increase in water level to be favorable for fish reproduction through restoration of spawning grounds.
