Erdogan: Turkey speaks against politicization of Armenian issue

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that “discussions on the Armenian issue should be held by historians.”

“Ankara is against politicization of the issue,” Erdogan said during a joint news conference with his Polish counterpart Donald Tusk, when responding to a Polish journalist’s question “whether the Armenian massacre was discussed during the meeting and whether Turkey’s accession to the EU is possible without resolution of the Armenian issue.”

“The issue is put on vote in various countries, however, those who vote are unaware of the state of affairs,” Cumhuriyet quoted Erdogan as saying. “It refers to the United States as well. As to Turkey’s accession to the EU, there is no chapter regarding the issue.”
