Arthur Baghdasaryan: Armenia to host CRRF exercise Oct 2011

Secretary of the RA National Security Council (NSC) Arthur Baghdasaryan said that during the CSTO summit in Moscow on December 10 the Armenian side managed to present its stances to the best advantage through the speech of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, as well as during joint discussions of the National Security Council secretaries, defense ministers and foreign ministers.

Referring to the informal CSTO summit held in Armenia in 2010, Baghdasaryan told a press conference in Yerevan that a range of important decisions has been adopted during it.

Specifically, purchase of military equipment and armament under preferential terms among the CSTO member states has been simplified. It was mentioned in the CSTO charter that in case of a military threat or aggression towards a member of the organization, the other CSTO member states should provide relevant assistance.

“We have managed to fix an important progress in adoption of solutions within a limited format – the procedure for decisions adoption and usage of rapid reaction units has been clarified,” said Baghdasaryan.

He noted that since Armenia is an initiator and active participant of the Collective Rapid Reaction Force (CRRF) formation, it was decided during the summit to hold CRRF exercise in Armenia in October 2011, the RA NSC press service reported.
