Georgia uncertain about sale of Armenia-bound gas pipeline to Azerbaijani SOCAR company

Georgia is uncertain about the possible purchase of the gas pipeline by Azerbaijani SOCAR company.

This refers to the part of the pipeline, through which natural gas is delivered from Russia to Armenia, Buiness Gruzia reported.

Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Nino Kalandadze said: “Our stance on the matter has not been formed, as SOCAR has only announced its willingness at this stage. The company implements huge and interesting projects on Georgia’s territory. Accordingly, we adopt relevant decisions, taking into consideration the two states’ national interests.”

The sale of the pipeline, which is of strategic importance for Armenia, to Azerbaijan may seriously affect the country’s interests.
