Joint military-industrial enterprises to be established based on Armenian-Russian agreement signed in Yerevan

State programs for the development of military equipment and armaments in 2011-2015 were discussed and approved during a sitting of the RA National Security Council (NSC).

“With approving these programs, we take a significant step aimed at liquidating all possible military threats faced by Armenia,” Secretary of the RA NSC Arthur Baghdasaryan told a press conference in Yerevan.

He added that military equipment and armaments will be modernized as part of the program, what will be of considerable importance for increasing the Armenian Armed Forces fighting capacity as well.

Baghdasaryan noted that the program will be enforced by Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan’s decree.

According to him, the program will also promote the development of Armenia’s defense industry.

The RA NSC Secretary noted that joint military-industrial enterprises will be established based on the agreement signed in Yerevan on Armenian-Russian cooperation in the field of defense industry.

According to Baghdasaryan, it will allow developing Armenia’s defense industry, creating jobs, as well as boosting cooperation with Russia and other CSTO member states, the RA NSC press service reported.
