On December 11-12, Ashgabat hosted a scientific conference, entitled: “Permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan: cooperation for the sake of peace, security and progress.”

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, delegations from Central Asian countries, representatives of regional and international organizations participated in the event.

Armenia was represented at the conference by Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharyan.

Regional cooperation in Central Asia, as well as practical steps for interethnic problems settlement and prevention were in the focus of the conference.

As part of his visit to Ashgabat, Kocharyan met with Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin, as well as deputy foreign ministers of Iran, Tajikistan, Georgia and Kazakhstan, the RA MFA press service reported.
