Azerbaijanis in U.S. ‘declare war’ on Armenian Genocide Resolution

The Azerbaijani Diaspora in the United States launched a campaign against possible adoption of the Armenian Genocide Resolution by the House of Representatives.

The Azerbaijani network (USAN) spread a statement threatening deterioration of U.S.-Azerbaijan and U.S.-Turkey relations. “This motion will badly damage the U.S. national security interests in the Caucasus,” the statement said, the Azeri-Press Agency reported.

On December 17, spokesperson for the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) Elizabeth S. Chouldjian said that H. Res. 252, the Armenian Genocide resolution, can be considered in the U.S. House of Representatives within the next 48 hours.

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu immediately called the U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to discuss possible consideration of H.Res.252 by the House of Representatives. According to Turkish media reports, Secretary Clinton promised to block voting.
