Armenian Minister of Urban Development Vardan Vardanyan said that the Ministry has developed a concept on struggle against illegal constructions in the country and a schedule of needed measures.

The concept will be implemented in 2011, Vardanyan told a press conference on December 22.

According to him, the control over illegal constructions will affect state officials and representatives of local self-government bodies, as they will be made liable, if it is identified that they had abused their powers and authorized illegal construction for over two times in a year.

The Minister added that the procedure for obtainment of construction permission will be simplified, what will allow reducing the number of illegal constructions in the country.

“The surveys conducted by us prove that it is easier to legalize an illegal construction than to obtain an official permission initially,” concluded Vardanyan.
