Azerbaijan-Turkey strategic partnership agreement –attempt to counteract Armenia-Russia strategic alliance

Azerbaijan-Turkey agreement on strategic partnership and mutual support, recently ratified in Azerbaijani parliament is an attempt of the countries involved to counteract Armenia- Russia strategic alliance, according to an expert at the Institute of Political Studies, Levon Hovsepyan.

As military expert Artsrun Hovhannisyan told a news conference in Yerevan, ratification of the agreement will weaken Russia’s position in South Caucasus. “Today, we focus on Azerbaijan’s continued purchase of military equipment, failing to notice similar process in Turkey. “Under the circumstances, Armenia has to stay vigilant, as Turkey is showing readiness to increase military presence in Azerbaijan and Nakhichevan,” the expert stressed.
