Gagik Minasyan: 2010 was a post-crisis year for Armenia

Chairman of the RA NA Standing Committee for Financial, Credit and Budgetary Affairs Gagik Minasyan said that 2010 can be characterized as a post-crisis year.

Relevant actions were implemented, due to which Armenia’s economy has reached the pre-crisis level, Minasyan told a resulting press conference in Yerevan on December 28.

It is proved also by the published macroeconomic indices for January-November.

Specifically, the economic growth totaled 2.6% during this period instead of 1.2% envisaged under the state budget.

According to Minasyan, industry served as the driving force of the growth, while its increase amounted to 10%. Besides, positive trends were recorded in the field of services.

“It is an evidence of Armenia’s transfer to a diversified economy,” Minasyan said, adding that over 14% drop was recorded in agriculture, what is basically conditioned by bad weather conditions.

Minasyan noted that indices of import and export are encouraging, saying that 41% growth was recorded in Armenia’s export, while import grew only by 14%, what is another evidence of rapid recovery of the country’s economy.
