OSCE Special Representative for Protracted Conflicts Giedrius Cekuolis said that Lithuania’s OSCE chairmanship will not be revolutionary.

According to him, Lithuania's goal when aiming to make progress in protracted conflicts will be to prompt the political will of the organization’s member states.

On January 1, 2011, Lithuania took over the Chairmanship of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, with a focus on internal and external threats in the OSCE area, fostering democracy, human rights and fundamental freedoms, notably freedom of the media, promoting energy security in Europe and building upon synergies between regional organizations, The Baltic Course reported.
