61 road accidents were reported on January 1-10, 2011, resulting in 5 deaths and 11 injuries, the head of Yerevan traffic patrol service of the RA Police stated.

As Norik Sargsyan told a news conference in Yerevan, the number of road accidents decreased by 6, however an increase in the number of those injured was reported compared to the same period in 2010.

“The number of road accident victims decreased by 196 over the past 2 years, which spells 200 lives saved,” Sargsyan said, adding that 22.824 pedestrians were fined in 2010.
