During the January 13 sitting, the Armenian government approved an activity program and priority tasks for 2011.

“This activity program should be in compliance with the electoral program of the Armenian President,” Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said.

At the same time, he outlined four basic packages of reforms, which will be of top priority in 2011.

Sargsyan noted that the first package includes diversification of the country’s economic system and “from this point of view the RA government has launched significant long-term pension reforms.” This includes also the mandatory vehicle insurance, what will allow forming relevant institutional structures.

Mr. Sargsyan said that the government’s efforts will be aimed at reforms concerning the business environment, specifically, tax and customs administration.

The Prime Minister added that industry and agriculture are in the second block of reforms.

Besides, the government should solve tasks for improvement of services quality in healthcare and education fields to increase their affordability and reduce corruption risks.

According to Sargsyan, reforms in the judicial and legal field and police are in the fourth block.
