Secretary of opposition Heritage parliamentary group Larisa Alaverdyan said that the Armenian pogroms in Baku are a real display of genocide perpetrated by the Azerbaijani leadership.
“Even today Baku does not reject its genocidal policy towards the Armenian people that has been launched since 1918,” Alaverdyan told a press conference, entitled: “Baku, January 1990 - genocide, vandalism, deportation.”
According to Alaverdyan, over 300,000 Armenians had resided in Baku until 1990. Meanwhile, according to data as of January 1990, only 25-30,000 Armenians stayed in the city.
“The events that took place in Baku and other Azerbaijani cities late in 80s-early in 90s are a display of genocide, vandalism, deportation and expatriation,” said Alaverdyan.
