Tigran Balayan: nothing threatens Armenian citizens in Tunis

Spokesman for the RA Foreign Ministry Tigran Balayan said that currently there are nine Armenian citizens in Tunis, who study there.

“The Armenian embassy in Egypt maintains regular communication with them. They are all right,” Balayan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.

Tunisian President Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali has fled with his family to Saudi Arabia, after being forced from office after 23 years in power.

The 74-year-old leader conceded power after protests over economic issues escalated into rallies against him.

Prime Minister Mohammed Ghannouchi has taken over as interim president, and a state of emergency has been declared, BBC reported.
