On January 18, Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan met with the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, Mr. Thomas Hammarberg to discuss human rights issues in the RA Armed Forces.

Minister Ohanyan briefed Thomas Hammarberg on the reforms aimed at ensuring human rights protection in the army.

The two men agreed that to enhance human rights protection in the army, measures should be taken to increase the level of legal education of servicemen and reduce the number of offences, the RA Defense Ministry’s press service reported.
