The RA State Revenue Committee commented on the protest action organized by Armenian traders with respect to growth in fees of the Armenian customs service for imported cloths.

“Customs rates for cloths imported to the country have not changed. Conversations about “the double growth in the rates per kg of cloths” refer to transportation costs, what is beyond the state committee’s powers. These matters should be clarified with freight forwarders,” the State Revenue Committee reported.

As for the disseminated information that the share of customs fees makes 97% in cargo transportation costs from Istanbul to Yerevan, it should be noted that the maximum rate of customs fee and VAT makes 32%. Besides, only VAT is charged in case of some goods.
