Tourism development project to launch in 2011 in north of Armenia

Chief Executive Officer of National Competitiveness Foundation of Armenia (NCFA) Pegor Papazian briefed the participants of a news conference at RA government on achievements and future plans of the foundation.

Among NCFA achievements, Papazian cited Tatev Revival project; launch of World's longest reversible passenger aerial tramway and Tatev monastic complex reconstruction.

As he noted, the programs will be continued in several directions, including development of infrastructure and promotion of tourist products.

“In 2011, NCFA will launch implementation of South-North tourism development large-scale project, with relevant works to be started in the north of the country, upon creation of necessary investment field,” Papazian said.

As of 2010, the reversible passenger aerial tramway transported over 9000 passengers, with 30% of those comprised by local population.
