Alexander Iskandaryan: Moscow has shouldered serious role in negotiations on Karabakh

Director of Caucasus Institute, political analyst Alexander Iskandaryan said that since the five-day war in Georgia and signing of the Meindorf Declaration, Russia has shouldered a serious role in the Karabakh conflict settlement and done it with the carte-blanche of other mediators for the first time in the conflict’s history.

Referring to the OSCE Minsk Group’s activity, Iskandaryan said during Yerevan-Moscow TV space bridge on the Karabakh conflict settlement that the task of the Minsk Group is to ensure contacts between the conflicting parties for organization of bilateral meetings, as well as to internationalize the negotiation process.

“The MG has been fulfilling this very task for already 18 years,” the political analyst said.
