Human Rights Watch: Armenian authorities have yet to ensure investigations into March 2008 clashes

20th annual Human Rights Watch World Report summarized human rights conditions in more than 90 countries and territories worldwide, reflecting investigative work undertaken in 2009 by Human Rights Watch staff, usually in close partnership with human rights activists in the country in question.

According to the report, “The Armenian authorities have yet to ensure meaningful investigations into excessive use of police force during March 2008 clashes with opposition supporters.

The authorities continue to restrict freedom of assembly by frequently denying requests to hold rallies, usually on technical grounds.

Human Rights Watch also slammed the international partners of Armenia for failing to influencing the country into observation of human rights.
