The willingness to resolve the Nagorno Karabakh conflict peacefully is not enough, Armenian President said.

“We will defend our population by all means if it’s necessary, like it happened in 1990s,” Serzh Sargsyan said in an interview with Echo of Moscow.

President Sargsyan reminded that after ignoring all UN resolutions that were adopted in 1993, Azerbaijan continued the war but had to ask for ceasefire in 1994. All know that we were the defending side,” he said.

“Azerbaijan believes it has a strong army but we are ready for any scenario. I have numerously stated that we don’t want war. But it doesn’t mean that we are afraid to fight. Because we know that should Nagorno Karabakh be under Azerbaijan’s control for an hour again, no Armenian will be left there,” Sargsyan concluded.
