France supports the Greek plans for a fence to close the Turkish border.

"We support the construction of such a fence as part of the measures to fight illegal immigration," French Minister of the Interior Brice Hortefeux said, adding that these fences could not be compared to the Berlin Wall.

Greek authorities plan on constructing a 12.5 km long and 3 m tall fence in the border region around the city of Orestiada. According to them, this would stop the flow of illegal immigrants, FOCUS News Agency reported.
