Introduction of bicameral parliament in Armenia will require lengthy public consultations, discussions and professional studies, amendments to the country’s constitution being a serious step, according to presidential spokesman.

As Armen Arzumanyan told PanARMENIAN.Net, “bicameral parliament is one of the possible suggestions, worth to be discussed on the same line with many others. In May 2010, at Hayastan All Armenian Fund Board of Trustees sitting, Armenia-Diaspora ties expansion was discussed, with relevant projects to be submitted in a year.”

At the meeting with California’s Armenian community, Diaspora Minister Hranush Hakobyan stated that “Armenian President believes that Diaspora representatives must become a part of the Armenian government, suggesting introduction of bicameral parliament to this end.”
