U.S. and Europe differ on Egypt, expert says

The U.S. and European political establishments do not have unified position on Egypt, according to the head of Arabic Department at Oriental Studies Institute.

As Shahen Karamanukyan noted during a discussion on social and political processes in Egypt, it’s hard to forecast the development of events in the country; however, the situation can be characterized as revolutionary.

Still, Karamanukyan said, Egypt will never be the same, as the model of controlled democracy practiced since 1952 has exhausted itself.
