Turkish Foreign Minister will not sign memorandum on cultural monuments in Tbilisi

On February 11, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu will pay an official visit to Georgia.

According to Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister David Jalaghania, Davutoglu will meet with President Mikheil Saakashvili and his counterpart Grigol Vashadze in Batumi and Tbilisi.

“I must stress that there is no plan to issue any kind of memorandum on Georgian and Turkish historical monuments in frames of the upcoming visit,” Jalaghania told journalists. However, the issue might be discussed, onlinenews.ge reported.

A bilateral agreement stipulating for renovation of 4 Georgian churches in Turkey in exchange for construction of 4 Turkish mosques in Georgia caused a major stir in the country.
