Israel silent over Hosni Mubarak resignation

Israel refrains to comment on the resignation of Egypt President Hosni Mubarak, neither is any official reaction to be expected in near future, Kol Israel radio station reported.

“Israel never interfered in domestic affairs of other states, specifically in those of a friendly state of Egypt,” Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman stressed in his radio statement.

The Foreign Minister characterized Iran’s intention to increase its regional influence as dangerous. “The Gaza Strip and Lebanon are practically two protectorates of Iran; half a year ago President Mubarak personally accused Iran of the attempt at revolution. This is why we have a mutual goal of preventing “Iranization” of the region, without any connection to Israel, which is clear to Omar Suleiman,” Kursor cited Lieberman as saying.
