Expert: Armenian MPs can prevent Lithuanian parliament from adopting resolution on Karabakh

Board chairman of Analytical Center on Globalization and Regional Cooperation Stepan Grigoryan said that the resolution on Karabakh that has been submitted to the Lithuanian parliament contains unfavorable provisions for Armenia.

The resolution, which most likely will be discussed by the Lithuanian parliament in March 2011, cites the European Parliament’s 2010 resolution on Karabakh that has caused indignation in Armenia, Grigoryan told a press conference in Yerevan.

“Similar resolutions do not directly affect the Karabakh conflict, but create a negative background for the Karabakh conflict peace resolution,” the political analyst said.

To prevent the resolution adoption by the Lithuanian parliament, the Armenian parliament needs to send a delegation to Vilnius to solve the problem through a parliamentary diplomacy, he concluded.
