Ombudsman nominee: I can’t keep out of politics

Nominee for the post of Armenia’s human rights defender Karen Andreasyan said he will focus on the freedom of speech-related problems if he is elected Ombudsman.

Addressing the parliament on March 2, Andreasyan said he is ready to cooperate with the National Assembly and all political forces, even in case of government reshuffle.

“The political forces which proposed my candidacy did not set any preconditions about my future activity,” Andreasyan said. “I think that the institute of Ombudsman should provide high-quality services for the citizens, rating people’s needs above all.”

Asked how deep he is going to engaged in politics, he said, “Even if I keep out of politics, it will deal with me.”
