Sargsyan refutes reports on cessation of governmental aid to local manufacturers

The executive authorities of Armenia promote activities of local manufacturers and exporters, Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan stated, refuting media reports on refusal of the Armenian government to assist local manufacturers.

As he stated at March 2 parliamentary hearing, “in a number of interviews to local TV channels I said that the economy should be based on knowledge. However, I never expressed an intention to cease short- and long-term programs for stimulation of export and industry.”

Armenia’s economic policy is aimed at signing a free trade agreement with EU, he said. As the Prime Minister added, conditions, favorable to formation of a market with free competition should be created.
