Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said that Armenia’s tourism has great opportunities, while the government’s actions aimed at its development yield positive results.

“In 2009, when a decline was recorded in Armenia’s economy, 4% growth was registered in the field of tourism,” Sargsyan said at the official presentation of the first online booking system in Armenia – ARMHOTELS.

He added that 17% increase was recorded in the tourism field in 2010, noting that the growth will continue also in 2011.

Sargsyan noted that investments in tourism and creation of relevant infrastructures in Armenia will allow making it multi-purpose – starting from spiritual tourism up to sport one.

As tourism development is a priority direction, the Armenian government is going to bring the number of tourists visiting the country to 3 million within 5 years, he said.
