Expert: presidential declaration in Sochi shouldn’t be overestimated

The declaration signed by the Presidents of Armenia¸ Russia and Azerbaijan in Sochi should not be overestimated, an Armenian expert said.

“Similar statements were periodically adopted before,” Caucasus Institute director Alexander Iskandaryan told a news conference in Yerevan.

“Signing of another declaration means that the previous ones were not fulfilled. However, it’s worth noting that for the first time since Meindorf, Azerbaijan signed a peace agreement on Karabakh. With this document, Azerbaijan undertakes to return Armenian POWs,” he said.
