Lenovo, Intel launch Classmate+ netbook aimed at youngsters

Lenovo, in cooperation with Intel, launched a netbook called Classmate+ aimed at youngsters, primarily in developing countries.

The Classmate+ packs enough power to get most jobs done - an Intel Atom N455 CPU, 1 or 2 GB of RAM and Windows 7. It also supports a 1.3 megapixel camera, 160 or 250 GB HDD, Wi-Fi, two speakers and a 3-cell or a 6-cell battery.

The netbook is designed like a briefcase and weighs a 1.33 kg with the smaller battery. The Classmate+ won’t will be sold only to agencies and educational institutions. The first batch of 158,000 will be deployed to students in Argentina this spring, Mashable reported.
