International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) and the Civil Society Institute (CSI) issued a statement, expressing concern over the arrest of the Armenian parliamentarian Zaruhi Postanjyan’s brother, Tigran Postanjyan.

As the statement says, the organizations believe the arrest was carried out in order to pressure his sister. The organizations condemn the actions of the Armenian authorities.

The organizations call on Armenian authorities to initiate an independent and transparent investigation into the matter, refrain from illegal actions towards oppositionists and their families, guarantee police act within the framework of powers vested in them, also allowing peaceful assemblies.

Tigran Postanjyan was arrested on February 23 on charges of bribery. The Investigative Committee of the Armenian Security Service is in charge of his case.
