OSCE CiO urges Baku to withdraw snipers from Karabakh conflict zone

OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Audronius Azubalis said that the Sochi meeting among the Azerbaijani, Armenian and Russian Presidents has opened a door for more promising negotiations on the Karabakh conflict settlement in future.

During his joint press conference with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov, Azubalis said in Baku that the recent incidents at the line of contact were in the focus of his negotiations with Mammadyarov. The OSCE Chairperson-in-Office stressed the necessity to withdraw snipers from the frontline.

“After the meeting in Sochi, there is hope for restoration of burnt bridges. The conflict can be settled only peacefully,” APA quoted Azubalis as saying.

Yerevan and Stepanakert have always stood for snipers’ withdrawal from the line of contact of the NKR and Azerbaijani armed forces, but Baku has displayed a destructive stance on the suggestion.
