Hrant Dink commemorated in Yerevan

Yerevan National Center of Chamber Music hosted an event dedicated to Editor-in-Chief of Agos Armenian-Turkish newspaper Hrant Dink, who was killed in 2007.

During the first part of the event, Turkologist Ruben Melkonyan and Primate of the Gougark Diocese Sepuh Chuljyan referred to Hrant Dink’s life and activity.

“Hrant Dink has sacrificed his life and become a target for the sake of justice, truth and tolerance,” said Chuljyan, adding that Dink was among the first people who raised the matter of the Armenian Genocide in Turkey, what has served as a reason for the Turkish public to make his life miserable.

The second part of the event included a concert organized by Yerkir public organization, during which Eastern Armenia’s music was presented.

Representative of Yerkir NGO Robert Tatoyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter that the visit of Turk friends of Dink – Ali Bayramoglu and Cengiz Aktar – is one of the reasons behind the organization of a similar event.

Bayramoglu and Aktar arrived in Yerevan to participate in an international conference entitled Armenian Genocide Awareness Building in Turkish Society.

Editor-in-Chief of Agos Armenian-Turkish paper Hrant Dink was assassinated on January 19, 2007, near his office in Istanbul.
