Turkey is getting prepared for April 24, with high ranking officials making statements about “ungrounded allegations” about the Armenian Genocide.

Turkey’s State Minister, Chief EU negotiator Egemen Bagis believes that all statements about the Armenian Genocide are “unfounded”. “A discussion of the Genocide bill in the Congress will be senseless. We have numerously brought our position on the issue to the notion of our American colleagues,” Sabah newspaper quoted Bagis as saying during a meeting with Congressman Pete Sessions in Washington.

It’s likely that the 112th Congress will not consider the Armenian Genocide resolution. Even if it’s put on the agenda, it will follow the path of the previous ones.

In all, Ankara doesn’t have to worry. Barack Obama won’t utter the words ‘Armenian Genocide’ in his April 24 address. Yet, he can easily accuse Libya’s strongman Muammar Gadhafi of the genocide of Libyan people, as the U.S. administration has its own and unique perception of peace, human rights and freedom.

Nevertheless, Turkey continues with its Armenian Genocide denial policy and does it rather successfully, especially in the U.S. and most of European countries.
